Building a bicycle/ walking link between the Fox Cities and High Cliff State Park
The High Cliff Connection is a proposed trail connection that will extend the regional east/west trail corridor from the Miron Trestle Bridge to High Cliff State Park. The connection will tie into the local Friendship Trail in Menasha, tie into the State's Friendship Trail, and extend to the High Cliff State Park.
The High Cliff Connection will fill multi-modal gaps in this strong, regional east-west corridor that will connect the Fox Valley Region and will help provide safer multi-modal opportunities for school children in the area. The trail expansion will continue the extension to provide multimodal facilities for residents and visitors to access retail, job centers, local trails, parks and other key community facilities that otherwise would not be accessible or would require the use of a vehicle.
High Cliff Connection is driven by a grassroots partnership including staff from city, village, town and county governments across the region working in partnership with highly motivated volunteers, East Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission and the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region. Our only employee is a contracted, part-time trail coordinator.
High Cliff Connection emerged from the February 2020 Fox Cities Trail Summit. City planners, engineers, parks and recreation directors, economic development directors, academics and advocacy group members gathered to compare priorities for multi-use trails in the region. The eastern connection to High Cliff State Park was identified as the largest priority.
Our mission is to encourage local and state governments, advocacy groups and philanthropy in Wisconsin's Fox Cities region to work in partnership to create a safe and continuous multimodal bicycle/pedestrian route between the Fox Cities and High Cliff State Park.
