Jefferson Park Renovations– the trail and much more!

Happening Now!

Work is well underway at Jefferson Park with the new playground open to the community in early June, followed by the existing pavilion ready for use at the beginning of July after extensive renovations. Our current phase includes reconstruction of the park road, a new softball diamond , and renovation of the trail network.

The Trail Reconstruction

With weather on our side, crews began work in early September and have made great progress. Curving along the edge of Lake Winnebago, the trail will largely maintain the same footprint through the park but will be expanded from an 8 foot to a 10-foot paved trail and have additional lighting. The exit of the trail on the east end of the park now aligns with the crossing at 3 rd St. creating a safer experience. As part of the regional Friendship Trail, this segment connects users from downtown Menasha and the Loop the Lake to Heckrodt Wetland Reserve towards High Cliff State Park. Weather permitting, the trail should be paved and open for use again by November. This trail reconstruction was made possible in part to a Recreational Trails program grant through the Wisconsin DNR. The reconstruction of this trail is also a important link in the overall High Cliff Connection Trail Corridor.

More to Come…

Stay tuned for future updates on improved social spaces, the renovated pavilion and boat launches!

This project ensures that our community will have access to safe, healthy, outdoor spaces. This and other planned projects will ensure that Menaha maintains the status of “your place on the water.”
